CRIS/RIMS (Current Research Information Systems / Research Information Management Systems) are becoming more and more relevant to monitor research activities and outputs, highlighting strengths and weaknesses of institutional performance and providing insight for budget allocation, collaboration and funding opportunities, etc. Proprietary CRIS are expensive and often compete with Institutional Repositories, draining resources and closing information behind barriers, contrary to the OAI principles.

OSFair2017 is organized as an emblematic initiative of four EU projects in the area of Open Science: OpenAIRE, OpenUP, FOSTER and OpenMinTeD. It is locally curated by the National Kapodestrian University of Athens and the “Athena” Research and Innovation Center and co-sponsored by the National Library of Greece.

The conference will take place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, the new location of the National Library of Greece.

The seminar will be structured in two conferences, the first one to be carried out by Mr. Jean-Claude Burgelman, Head of Unit Data, Open Access and foresight. DG Research and Innovation. European Commission and the second by Mrs Lidia Borrell- Damian, Director of Research and Innovation of the European University Association (EUA); and three round tables with national and international experts who will discuss about Iberian and international experiences, as well as the perspective from the point of view of state administration of open science.

OpenAIRE today releases the results of its survey conducted in Autumn 2016, which gauged the views towards open peer review (OPR) of over 3,062 editors, authors and reviewers. The report, entitled “OpenAIRE survey on open peer review: Attitudes and experience amongst editors, authors and reviewers” shows that open peer review is moving mainstream, with high levels of enthusiasm and experience amongst those surveyed.
